Sandkit was born alongside his siblings Dustkit and Fawnkit, the tom was named after his Sandy colored pelt. He was a happy kit; Spending time with his two loving parents and amazing family. He also liked to spend time with another kit in the nursery, his best and practically only friend Splashkit. Splashkit was another long-legged kit, this tom with a black pelt with grey splotches and fairly dull blue eyes. At the age of 5 moons, Splashkit and Sandkit snuck out of the Marshclan camp; The two kits practically the size of a fully grown cat had swum as best they could out of camp and explored. Splashkit became excited as he saw a tree and led the pair over to it. Sandkit reluctantly followed behind. the two climbed the tree; their sharp claws hooking into the soft bark. Sandkit stopped and climbed into a branch one lower than his friend; crawling to the edge of the branch; Splashkit had heard the snap in the wood before Sandkit had but it was too late. The wood had already broken and sent Sandkit tumbling to the ground.

Sandkit and Splashkit has been rescued by their father Gingerspirit and another warrior who noticed the two were missing. As they were brought back to camp; Sandkit was bleeding from the leg slightly with the limb twisted oddly around the bottom. He spent the next moon in the Medicine cat den healing his twisted, limp leg and relearning to walk without his back leg.
